FANTASY LOVE STORY WINTER’S TALE

To celebrate a brand new year, Ster-Kinekor’s movie choice for its first ‘Girlfriends’ Getaway’ event on 19 February is a beautiful, fantasy love story. Winter's Tale, set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, is a story of miracles, crossed destinies and the age-old battle between good and evil.

So, what are you waiting for? Gather your girlfriends and head to your nearest Ster-Kinekor cinema for a well-deserved mid-week break. Due to popular demand, Ster-Kinekor has also added four new cinemas to host its monthly get-together: Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp, Secunda in Mpumalanga, Garden Route in George, and The Grove in Pretoria. Enjoy this new romantic fantasy with your favourite girlfriends, as you are pampered and entertained with a special pre-screening ofWinter’s Tale on Wednesday, 19 February from 19:00.

Winter’s Tale marks the directorial debut of Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), who also wrote the screenplay based on the acclaimed 1983 fantasy novel by Mark Helprin. The film stars Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, William Hurt and Eva Marie Saint.

When his immigrant parents are denied admission at Ellis Island, Peter Lake (Colin Farrell) is set adrift in New York Harbour in a model boat. He is rescued by the Baymen of the Bayonne Marsh and sent off to Manhattan when he comes of age.

Peter struggles to support himself and eventually becomes a burglar making an enemy of a gangster named Pearly Soames (Russell Crowe). While robbing a house, Peter meets a young woman named Beverly (Jessica Brown Findlay), the two form a special bond and his love for the free spirited woman leads him to become obsessed with justice.
