Robocop heads for IMAX Gateway

STER-KINEKOR RELEASES ROBOCOP IN IMAX® AT THE GATEWAY THEATRE
Seeing this action crime thriller on the IMAX® screen ensures you are part of the action

Since opening in November 2013, the IMAX® theatre at Ster-Kinekor’s most popular cinema complex at Gateway in Durban has already played host to a number of blockbuster titles. On Friday, 07 February, RoboCop will blast onto the impressive IMAX® screen, in line with its worldwide release. Book your tickets now to see this action crime thriller in the most immersive cinematic experience.
The IMAX® release of RoboCop has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® using proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie – and part of the non-stop action.
In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate, OmniCorp, is at the centre of robot technology. Overseas, its drones have been used by the military for years – adding billions to OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring its controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it.
When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees its chance to build a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they ignore one small detail: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.
RoboCop is directed by José Padilha and stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson among its cast. The film is produced by Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Bill Carraro and Roger Birnbaum serving as executive producers.
Seeing RoboCop on the IMAX® screen promises audiences an immersive cinema experience like no other.
The film carries a 10-12PGLV classification and its running time is 118mins.
